Volunteer

Volunteering offers a unique experience to work with individuals through their recovery journey. You will learn a broad set of skills, work within a multi-disciplinary team and receive a training and development programme to enhance your understanding of the range of impacts that substance use can have on an individual, their family and society.

Whether you have a specific interest or want to support at all stages of treatment there is a volunteering place for you here. For more information, please contact 0208 289 1999.

Volunteer support and supervision

You will be matched with a member of the team who will be your supervisor while you volunteer with us. Your supervisor will guide you on your voluntary role and support you one-to-one.

We encourage you to share how your role is going, celebrate successes and discuss any problems you may be facing. We will support you to develop in your volunteering role with us.

DBS check

As a volunteer in our service, you will need a DBS check. Having a criminal record does not necessarily prevent someone from being successfully recruited, however, it will mean someone needs to go through a safer recruitment DBS risk assessment process before being accepted into the role.

Volunteer hours

Unless stated, the hours can be flexible to the time you can commit to and the needs of the service and the people who access it.

Claiming expenses

We believe volunteers shouldn’t be out of pocket through their volunteering experiences. Volunteers can claim travel expenses from home to the place of volunteering. We will chat through the variety of ways in which volunteers can claim expenses.

Peer mentoring

Many of the people who come into our services are unsure about what to expect. If you have been through treatment, you can become a peer mentor to help reassure people about what to comes next.

You’ll be a face of visible recovery to give people hope and reassurance. Your lived experience means you can understand what people are going through.

For more information, please contact 0208 289 1999.
