Drug and Alcohol Service - Bromley

Volunteer
Volunteering offers a unique experience to work with individuals through their recovery journey. You will learn a broad set of skills, work within a multi-disciplinary team and receive a training and development programme to enhance your understanding of the range of impacts that substance use can have on an individual, their family and society.
Whether you have a specific interest or want to support at all stages of treatment there is a volunteering place for you here. For more information, please contact 0208 289 1999.

Volunteering opportunities
We have several volunteer roles that we recruit for depending on service needs and your personal experience of the issues our services help people with.
Options include volunteer opportunities as a peer mentor, supporting people on their own journey, or becoming a Service User Representative.
One of our peer mentors has shared her story - you can read it here.

Finding volunteer vacancies
You can view our latest volunteer recruitment opportunities and make an application at the link below.
You can also contact our team to chat about any aspect of volunteering, at [email protected] or email Eon Butler, our Volunteer Lead, at [email protected].
Find a volunteering role
Volunteer support and supervision
You will be matched with a member of our team who will be your supervisor while you volunteer with us. Your supervisor will guide you in your voluntary role and support you one-to-one.
We encourage you to share how your role is going, celebrate successes and discuss any problems you may face. We will support you to develop in your volunteering role with us.

DBS check
You will need a DBS check to volunteer in our service. Having a criminal record does not necessarily prevent someone from being recruited; however, it will mean the applicant needs to complete through the Safer Recruitment DBS Risk Assessment process before being accepted into the role.

Volunteer hours
Unless stated, the hours can be flexible to the time you can commit to and the needs of the service and the people who access it.

Claiming expenses
We believe volunteers shouldn’t be out of pocket, and they can claim travel expenses from home to the place of volunteering. We can chat through the variety of ways in which volunteers can claim expenses.

Get in touch
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and would like to chat to us first, you can contact our team at [email protected] or you can contact Eon Butler, our Volunteer Lead, at [email protected]. We’d love to hear from you.

Peer mentoring
Many of the people who come into our services are unsure about what to expect. If you have been through treatment, you can become a peer mentor to help reassure people about what comes next.
You’ll be a visible face of recovery to give people hope and reassurance. Your lived experience means you can understand what others are going through.
For more information, please contact 0208 289 1999.

Feedback
Meeting your expectations and providing a high-quality, effective service are hugely important to us.
Your feedback will be used to shape changes that are made locally within the service as well as national practice. We are committed to promoting and supporting Service User Involvement, and getting your feedback is the best way to ensure that we know what you like and what you think we could do better.
