Bromley Changes Young People's Drug and Alcohol Services

Training and workshops for professionals, pupils, parents and carers

For secondary school pupils

Assembly: A presentation introducing our service, a brief overview of common drugs, the law and some basic safety information. 30 minutes

Workshops: Suitable for one class of pupils, or for smaller, more targeted groups

  • 60 minutes (mainstream education): Interactive presentation introducing our service, an overview of different drugs/alcohol with some safety information, engaging in conversations around teenage substance use, peer influence, etc.
  • 30 minute (alternative education/SEND students): As above, but adapted to the specific needs of the group.

These can also be delivered to young people aged over 18 with additional learning needs. Please email [email protected] to discuss the needs of your group.

Professionals:

Introduction to our service (30 mins): For bigger events or fitting into a team meeting. Introduces our different support pathways, how to make a referral, and key substance use and safeguarding issues.

Training:

  • 60 mins: A presentation to introduce our different support pathways, provide an overview of current drug trends, safeguarding issues, how to talk with young people, signposting and making a referral, with question time at the end.
  • 90 mins: As above, but more conversational and with questions taken throughout.

Parent and carers

This training can be be organised via professionals who work with parents and carers.

Training:

  • 60 mins: Provide an overview of current drug trends, safeguarding; biases, conversation starters, signposting and making a referral.
  • 90 mins: As above, but more conversational, with questions taken throughout.
