We’re here to support you.

Our service provides free and confidential access to adults over 18 who use alcohol and drugs.

We can help with any questions or worries you might have about:

  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • How substances affect your mental health

It isn’t always easy to take that first step and reach out about struggles with substances.  When you first visit our service you will be met by a friendly member of our team who will answer any questions you may have.

We will help you with the tools you need to reach your goals, whilst supporting you through your challenges.

  • A front door inside of a building. Ballard Chambers is written above the entrance and there is a purple sign next to the door with the opening times of the service.

  • We are located in Romford town centre, in Ballards Chambers next to the marketplace. Our entrance is next to the Bridal shop. We are 2 mins walk from Romford train station. If you are driving, the Angel Way car park is the closest.

First appointment

We know that entering treatment is one of the hardest parts of the recovery journey, but the most important!

We also know that sometimes people are unsure about what to expect from treatment services.

Your first assessment will take approximately one hour and 30 minutes. This session is for us to discuss and learn more about your needs and how we can support your goals.

We will also provide information about the treatment and support options available to you at Havering.

During the assessment, we will ask relevant questions about:

  • Your alcohol or drug use
  • Your physical health
  • Your mental health and emotional well-being
  • Any medications you are currently taking

Treatment options

We have lots of treatment options for you. This includes:

  • One to one to support with your keyworker
  • Peer support
  • Groupwork
  • Advice on keeping safe
  • Counselling services
  • Medication assisted treatment including Buvidal
  • Testing for blood borne viruses such as hepatitis C, B and HIV
  • Access to different detox options.

Advice and support

Alcohol

If you’re worried about your alcohol use and how it’s affecting your life, we offer tailored support to meet your needs. You’ll set goals with your keyworker and explore how to reach them, which could include one to one sessions and peer led groups. If you’re dependent on alcohol, you may be offered medication or a medical detox to safely manage withdrawal cravings.

Drugs

If you're struggling with drug use, whether it's cannabis, ketamine, opioids, prescription medications, or over-the-counter drugs, we’re here to support you with specialist care. You'll have a dedicated keyworker to support you reach your goals, and access to peer-led support. We also offer guidance on harm reduction techniques and can provide access to medically supervised detox if needed, helping you take safe steps toward recovery.
