Newham Rise offers new training on synthetic opioids

Drug Alert NitazeneIn recent months, Newham, along with many other boroughs, has been affected by synthetic opiate-related overdoses and deaths. Drug and alcohol services have come together with partners in the community in a bid to reduce the harm caused by synthetic opiates such as nitazenes.

Newham Rise has created a training package for professionals which is designed to upskill them on how to manage the risks associate with these drugs. The sessions focus on harm reduction advice and techniques that minimise risk and can be life saving. Book your place via our website.

Newham Rise is now providing nitazene testing strips to all of our service users who may be at risk, as part of our work to reduce drug harms from new synthetic opioids. We continue to equip and train our service users, partner agencies and the community in the use of naloxone, the opiate overdose reversal drug, and now have open slots for rapid clinical assessment and opiate substitute prescribing.
