We'll nurture and support you to develop your career and reach your full potential.

Career development really means something at Change Grow Live. 

Many of our members of staff used to access our services for support. Many of our staff started with us as front-line workers, volunteers or peer mentors too (including our Chief Executive).  

Whether you’ve volunteered with us before, accessed our services for support, or are completely new to Change Grow Live, we will support you to develop and grow in your career here.

Ways we will support you

Our People Promise  

In 2023 we set out our commitment to our staff and volunteers in our People Promise. The People Promise sets in stone what kind of organisation we will be for our people. 

It promises our staff that that we’ll provide them with the tools and resources they need to do the very best work they can. 

The promise features examples of what we are currently doing to promote career development, including: 

  • Mentoring and coaching available to all. 
  • Cultural and leadership development programmes.  
  • New opportunities for advancement through work experience, placements and training programmes. 

Personalised learning and development 

We'll support your learning through an online system, which provides you with a personalised dashboard bringing together supervision, appraisal, online courses and other resources.  

There are also opportunities for staff to take time off to pursue relevant higher education qualifications too. 

Our medical director and clinical experts provide a framework for continuing professional development for all our clinical professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors and nurses. We also provide the post-qualifying ‘assisted supported year in employment’ (ASYE) for social workers. 

Mentoring for success 

Whatever stage you're at in your career, you can benefit from our employee mentoring scheme. This provides one-to-one career development support to help you reach your potential and move forward in your career. 
 
Generally, a mentoring relationship will last around 3 months, with one face-to-face meeting per month and additional phone and email support as agreed.

Cultural and leadership development programmes 

We have a well-established leadership development programme which provides competency training and support for those entering and progressing through management.  

We are also developing specific support for female, BAME, disabled and LGBTQ+ staff, to improve representation in senior leadership roles.  

Developing Together – a programme to help our people live our values 

At the heart of our people approach is Developing Together: a programme to empower everyone at Change Grow Live to take charge of their potential and shape the organisation into one that truly reflects our values.  

Through the Developing Together programme, colleagues take part in immersive workshops that explore how they can live the values in every aspect of their work. Practice based tools and models help teams to assess their strengths and development areas, build trust, have great conversations and to consider inclusion, well-being and influence.

We've achieved Investors in People silver status. This award recognises our commitment to outstanding people management, leadership, communications and training.
