Thank you so much for taking the time to complete our Pulse Surveys in April. We had over 200 surveys completed which is amazing!
The responses we received were so lovely with over 250 positive comments and 79 areas where you thought we could improve. We have looked at your comments and responded.
Rob Walker is your Service User Involvement Co-ordinator, and you can contact him on [email protected] or 07389 870696.
These are some of the wonderful things you had to say about our service…
If I have an issue someone is always available to help. I’m kept updated on all situations via text message or phone call and I feel in complete control of my recovery and involved in any decisions that are made about me.
I have successfully finished treatment now and been nearly a year with my keyworkers. I think it is incredible work that they have done and support that I have received. From the very beginning, I had catch-up calls, emergency appointments scheduled at short notice if I needed it, catch-up messages when I was reducing the dosage of tablets, encouraging messages during and celebrating small wins and every reduction.
My keyworker has been excellent; they approachable, honest, calm, and understanding. They have treated me with compassion, kindness and utmost professionalism while also being personable and easy to get along with. Special mention also to the worker who supported me when I first came to the service; they made it so easy to open up and just made that initial conversation so easy.
The staff are friendly, polite, and kind. They have various ways in which they can help you, whether it is treatment for drugs/alcohol or someone to talk to... You are given opportunities to take part in different events, for example, group sessions, arts and crafts, Kirklees in Recovery, breakfast club, job opportunities and lots more!
I feel supported in my decisions, I am encouraged, and my recovery worker is down to earth. They talk to me like a real person. My keyworker is straight with me and I feel motivated to do better.
The things you do are absolutely outstanding.
Overall, you had incredible things to say about the staff at Kirklees. Some of the key traits mentioned include their caring nature, approachability, kindness, and the warm, welcoming environment they create.
These are the areas you feel we could improve and our responses…
We are pleased to have implemented our drop-in rapid prescribing service. Rapid prescribing is on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in Huddersfield and Wednesday and Friday in Dewsbury
If you are new into treatment or have been on a prescription in the last 14 days and need to be restarted and have attended a clinic appointment in the last 6 months you can drop in and see our Duty Worker, provide a test and a Prescriber can usually restart your prescription the same day. We would also discuss the reasons for being off prescription and provide harm minimization advice.
If your appointments are not at a time that suits your needs, please speak to your Recovery Coordinator. They can work with you to find a time that’s suitable for you.
We have provided feedback to the group work facilitators at Emerging Futures, who organise the groups. We hope to see if you notice a difference.
The staff are working hard to maintain the cleanliness of the toilets. If you find that they are not clean, please inform a staff member. We provide soap and hand sanitizer; if either of these is unavailable, please let us know. Additionally, we have put up signs in the toilets to remind everyone to wash their hands.
Kirklees in Recovery has responded to service user feedback and introduced additional support options. A new peer support group and social evenings will now take place on Saturday afternoons in Dewsbury, providing extra weekend support. A monthly Saturday evening social event has also been launched at rotating locations. These events will feature fun activities, games, and food-themed gatherings, offering individuals a safe and welcoming socialising environment.
We are currently unable to deliver additional support on bank holidays, but this is something we are keen to explore in the future.
We are currently looking into this and will keep you updated on our progress.
Emerging Futures has now introduced a daily duty rota; there will always be a member of staff sitting in the café area to support Service Users and welcome people as they enter the building.
We offer Walking Football on Thursdays. We meet at 11am at Kick Off in Dewsbury. If you'd like to join us, please call or text Rob, and he will pass your information along.
Additionally, there are walking groups available in both Huddersfield and Dewsbury, and we will be starting a walking group on Sundays soon.
Our treatment services are open until 8pm, three nights per week across Dewsbury and Huddersfield. We have also recently started some evening groups. Hopefully you will have noticed that staff are more visible in the Recovery Hubs.
We want to give everyone a big thank you for filling out the Pulse Survey, as it really helps us shape and improve our services. Please talk to your key worker if you have any further comments or questions.
