On the morning of 8th April, Stockton Recovery Service opened our doors to the public and professionals.
The aim of our open day was to offer people the opportunity to explore our building and learn about what we have to offer, as well as meet our staff.
The stages of the walk-through included a visit to the Harm Minimisation Team, where Gren, our harm reduction lead, conducted naloxone training, discussed blood-borne viruses, and educated attendees on overdose awareness.
Visitors were invited to speak with our Children and Young People team, who discussed the support we offer to children and young people who use substances, as well as those affected by substance use in their families.
Our Clinical team, which is made up of nurses, displayed information about alcohol detox, health care and rehabilitation. Our Psychosocial Intervention team provided an overview of their work programs including a mindfulness exercise.
In the morning, several of our recovery coordinators and Stockton’s operations manager discussed the overall service we deliver. Many questions were asked, and answers were provided in our scenic courtyard.
Finally, staff members from Change Grow Live Stockton and Recovery Connections shared stories of recovery and their lived experiences.
We would like to thank the following for attending:
Public Health, Bridge House, North Star Housing Group, Safer Communities, Probation, Eastern Raverns, DWP, Cruse Bereavement, Headlight Project,
Stockton Borough Council, Red Balloons, Accessing Change Together, North Tees Hospital, New Walk, Occupational Therapists, Healthwatch and St John's School.
