They were able to deliver vital harm reduction around the new synthetic opiates as they are commonly being found in drugs, such as Ketamine and Cocaine, in particular Nitazenes and they were able to deliver advice on anti-spiking for those who drink alcohol.
At the events, we displayed many valuable resources to help the community understand the signs of overdose and what to do if someone has an overdose. The resources on display were: Nitazene Testing Strips, The Drug Wheel, Naloxone kits, information flashcards and a Drug Box.
Due to the recent rise in Synthetic Opioids, particularly Nitazenes, we have spent some time in the community informing individuals about this risk and promoting the use of our free self-testing Nitazene strips. If you require a self-testing kit, they can be provided by your local Change Grow Live hub.
The test works very similarly to COVID or pregnancy tests where the strip is pre-loaded with ‘control particles’ and upon dipping it into the opioid-based solution, the water carries these particles along with the drug towards the testing lines.
If Nitazene is present in the solution the line won’t appear, however, if there isn’t any Nitazene present a line will show on the testing strip.
The repaid testing strips are available at all Change Grow Live services in Norfolk.
These events have been very successful, and our colleges thoroughly enjoy these days out of the office
