The new project has been set up by Change Grow Live (Wirral Ways), Citizens Advice Wirral, Wirral Mind, Involve Northwest, and Age UK Wirral. The new hub has been funded by NHS Property Services with additional funding coming from the Ministry of Justice.
The new Social Prescribing Hub is the first one of its kind on the Wirral. Its aim is to provide guidance and support to local communities in need. The hub hopes to tackle health inequalities across the Wirral.
Nightingales Café have also opened up a new site as part of the hub, serving hot and cold drinks as well as healthy lunches to staff and patients.
The Hub was officially opened last month by MP for Wallasey, Dame Angela Eagle. She said: “Flourish Wellbeing Hub is the first Social Prescribing Wellbeing Hub in Wirral. I am pleased that it has been launched in Liscard at Victoria Central Hospital, where lots of residents are already used to travelling to.
“The Hub brings together a range of excellent community and voluntary sector organisations and offers wrap-around services that will help people improve their health and wellbeing. I look forward to seeing the Hub develop in the coming months.”
Justice Minister, Lord Bellamy, who has supported the project said: “Access to targeted and joined-up services as early as possible can make a huge difference to people when they are most in need of a helping hand.
“This hub will offer much-needed legal support to people in the Wirral in one easy-to-access space, reflecting the range of challenges they may be facing at times of difficulty.”
Wirral Ways will be start seeing clients in the new space this month, providing a welcoming, non-clinical environment. Our housing team will also be holding drop-in sessions at the hub. The rest of the service will also utilise the new space.
Gerry Pangalis (pictured below with the managers of Citizens Advice Wirral, Wirral Mind, Involve Northwest, and Age UK Wirral alongside side the Hub Facilitator, Tilda), Deputy Service Manager for the Wirral was really excited about the new space and the doors it will open for our service users.
The hub is also an opportunity for support services to work more closely together with each other and the NHS. Through a collaborative approach to support, it is hoped that more people can be helped.
The launch was a huge success, with Nightingales providing canapes and refreshments.
The new Flourish Wellbeing Hub is located on the top floor of the Victoria Central Hospital, Liscard, Wallasey. Nightingales Café also have a kiosk there, providing goof, drink and support.
