We offer a comprehensive and exciting intervention programme to children and young people between the ages of 11 and 25.
Resilience support
Our Resilience Workers provide one-to-one support to children and young people who wish to know more about substances, or who have started to use drugs and/or alcohol themselves.
A holistic care plan is developed to address the individual’s use as well as other areas of their life they require support with. Appointments are arranged wherever the child or young person feels safe and comfortable in the community, such as within the Youth Justice System, schools, youth zones, and more.
Children and families (hidden harm) support
Our Hidden Harm workers provide one-to-one support around exposure to substance misuse from their parents/carers/family. The aim is to educate children and young people - in an age-appropriate way - about their loved one’s struggles with substance use, and to help them build their resilience. Much like our resilience pathway, we work with children and young people in a space that is comfortable to them; this can include virtual interventions, where appropriate.
Family and carers support
Our Family and Carers worker provides group-based support for any family members or carers who are affected by a loved one’s substance misuse. We also offer the “Strengthening Families Together” programme to parenting groups.
Training and workshops
We deliver a number of training sessions and workshops to children and young people in schools, the Youth Justice System and youth zones.
Training on relevant trends; drugs, alcohol and vaping awareness; and harm reduction, is also available to partners and professionals in Newham.
We streamed our workshop for professionals online via Eventbrite on 4 December. The workshop covered drugs and alcohol awareness and harm reduction with a focus on trends among children and young people.
